Jersey is the headquarters of much of HSBC's representation in the Channel Islands and as the country head, Martin oversees the local retail and commercial bank, offshore bank, asset management, private bank and Trust businesses of the HSBC Group in Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man.
His HSBC career path has taken him across the world and has included senior management roles in Australia, Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong SAR, Pakistan, Taiwan and two postings in Jersey. This has given him a wealth of experience across the breadth of the international financial services industry, including in depth knowledge of the Banking, Funds and Trustee sectors.
In addition to the business side, Martin is very interested in HSBC's global commitment to combating climate change and local environmental projects. As part of these educational and environmental initiatives, Martin has led more than 1000 HSBC bank employees in numerous projects in Jersey, including the Agile Frog project with Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust, the Coastline campaign with the National Trust, and the Schools Travel Plans with Eco Active.
The global theme continues at home as Martin was born in the UK, is married to an American and has two boys, one born in Hong Kong and one in Karachi.
When not in the office, he enjoys a range of outdoor activities, especially sea-based.
