Responsible for:
Stock market dealers or traders buy and sell shares on the international markets.
Average salary:
Starting salaries range from £24,000 to £35,000 a year, with experience, earnings can be £45,000 to £80,000 and some stockbrokers earn over £150,000 a year. Plus you will normally earn bonuses based on personal or company performance.
Typical working hours:
The working day is from about 7.45am to 7pm, which covers the international trading hours.
Qualifications:
Many firms only employ graduates and competition for jobs is fierce. Any degree discipline is acceptable, but a degree in economics, politics, a financial subject or other numerate subject is often preferred. Entry requirements for a degree are a minimum of two A levels/three H grades and five GCSEs/S grades (A-C/1-3), including English and maths, or equivalent qualifications.
