Chris Bucknall, a leading businessman with experience running major multinational firms has been appointed Executive Chairman of the Horizon Group, an independent Jersey-based provider of financial services. Mr Bucknall has been a non-executive director of Horizon Group for two years and begins his new role with a remit to continue the company’s growth and extend its services to a wider customer base. David Francis, CEO of Horizon Group said, “Chris is an exceptional leader with high level experience in multinational businesses. He brings with him a wealth of experience that will prove invaluable as he feeds into the strategic development of Horizon Group.” Mr Bucknall replaces company founder, Gary Bellot who has decided to step down from his executive role after 10 successful years at the helm of Horizon Group. Gary’s experience with the company and within Jersey’s financial sector is outstanding. David Francis, said: “Gary has been at the centre of Horizon since he founded the Group ten years ago. We are extremely grateful for the outstanding work that he has put in to take the firm from start-up to being a multi-million pound, well respected business. On behalf of everyone at Horizon, I wish him well in the future.” Chris Bucknall worked for 20 years with Compass Group, having been part of the management buyout team that successfully acquired the business from Grand Metropolitan, at the time it was the largest management buy-out in Europe.
