Jersey has a diverse, multicultural and cosmopolitan population. Like many other financial centres, the business community is represented by professionals drawn from countries located all around the world. In addition, the retail, agriculture and hospitality sectors have also historically relied upon overseas labour markets to meet local demand. As a consequence, Jersey has a number of strong communities and, in particular, nationals from Australia, Kenya, Portugal, Poland and South Africa are all well represented.
The island has a population of just over 90,000, with around 190 restaurants, bars, clubs with a local ‘aprés-sea’ culture. Surrounded by a variety of beaches, bays and coves with a temperate climate and more sunshine hours than anywhere else in the British Isles – making Jersey a prefect location to live and work.
The reputation of companies/organisations on the island, the calibre of work on offer and the financial benefits are all excellent. Yet the absence of a stressed of a commuter lifestyle, the general quality of life and strong emphasis on spending time with family and friends means Jersey is a favourable destination for skilled workers looking to move and is also an easy place to get settled.
