25 July onwards - Local unemployed Graduates in partnership with Advance Plus - 4 weeks
14 – 25 - November Highlands College National Diploma Business Studies (BTEC 2nd year) - 2 weeks
About the Work Experience Week
This week-long programme has been designed and organised by Jersey Finance in partnership with Education, Sport and Culture and your school to give you the opportunity to gain valuable “real-life” work experience within the finance industry.
Objectives for the Week-long Programme
To give you an insight into the world of finance
To enhance your skills, gain valuable work experience and improve your knowledge and CV
Understand what “working-life” is all about
Give you the opportunity of finding out what type of careers are available in the finance industry in Jersey
To introduce possible entry routes into the industry
All communication and paper work will be undertaken via your school careers teacher or form teacher
Information for Students - How the programme works
Stage One – Engagement
Student sends in completed application form with their accompanying CV via their careers/form teacher
Employer (Member firm/organisation) sends in their completed “Work experience information sheet” for student role.
Stage Two – Placements offered
Jersey Finance matches students with employers (Member firms wishing to take part) within the finance industry
Student informed by school careers/form teacher of organisation placement with Member firm.
Student contacts Member firm to organise introductory meeting.
All necessary forms and student agreement are signed with key contact
Stage Three – Programme induction
Employer (Member Firm) and student meet
Project allocated by mentor (someone within the organisation who will act as a supervisor). This person will also discuss the set tasks for the fortnight (see separate worksheet).
Stage Four – Placements start
Mentor and student discuss learning objectives
Tasks and project undertaken.
Stage Five – Review and feedback
Mentor and student review work experience and complete the provided evaluation sheet (this is in student booklet).
Completed evaluation form is sent to Jersey Finance via school careers/form teacher

Day 1 of Placement

Employment commences
- Necessary forms and inductions will be given by staff within the businesses.
- During the week-long work experience students will receive a range of tasks in envelopes from their work supervisor/mentor. The tasks are for the students to work through by themselves.
Days 2 - 4
9.00am – 5.00pm
- Continue with work experience all day
- Task envelopes will be handed out accordingly
Day 5
12.00pm – 1.15pm
- ‘Welcome Back’ at Jersey Finance Head Office from Carla Harris
- Review of programme
- Q&A
1.15pm – 2.00pm
Retirement lunch party (students, mentors, HR contacts school tutors).
Finish – 2.00pm
