We are very pleased that so many people were able to join us for the Jersey Finance Lunch and Presentation entitled; ‘Jersey - Hong Kong … Gateway to Global Capital Markets’, held at The China Club, Hong Kong. We hope that all who attended found it most interesting.
Jersey companies were recently approved for listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Hong Kong is globally recognised as a well established and important financial centre and with China anticipated to become the world’s most powerful economy the listing approval was seen as a Jersey gateway to global capital markets.
The approval success came as a result of two concurrent applications to the Hong Kong Exchange. In the first, Jersey Finance worked with Carey Olsen and a Hong Kong law firm on the application in principle for the flotation of Jersey companies on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. In the second, Ogier acted for an existing Jersey company, who sought a pre-IPO ruling, which was given by the Exchange on the same day and which has recently been published on the Exchange's website.
