The Shanghai Private Equity Association (“SHPEA”) and Jersey Finance are non-profit, member-based organisations. Jersey Finance develops Jersey as an international finance centre. In addition to such marketing activity, it also co-ordinates the consultation process of proposed legislation and regulation affecting the Jersey finance industry, which results in a product offering that reinforces Jersey's position as an international finance centre of excellence. SHPEA’s members come from both China and overseas private equity funds, investment companies, relevant professional services organisations and investment promotional bodies. The Association’s objective is to provide services to its members and to promote the interest and the development of the private equity industry in Shanghai and the Yangtze Delta Region.
Both organisations joined forces to highlight financial advantages from a China perspective of using Jersey funds and to provide a high-level understanding of the benefits for formation and listing of Jersey holding companies.
As a leading international finance centre, Jersey is increasingly recognised by corporate, institutional, and private clients in China as an ideal offshore location from which to access capital markets in Europe and Hong Kong as well as a base for funds with a range of applications useful in China.
Jersey companies have a history of being used for listings around the world including Exchanges in London (Main Board and AIM), New York (NASDAQ and NYSE), Amsterdam (EURONEXT), Toronto and HK Stock Exchanges among others. Jersey has also been a prominent player in delivering fund services since the 1960s. In the past 5 years, private equity fund raising in the Channel Islands has amounted to an estimated €234 billion.
