Entitled ‘Clear Direction’, the 2016 Jersey Finance Annual Asia Roadshow Hong Kong event will take place on 20 October and will bring together a range of world-class industry professionals to discuss several key issues currently shaping the global market/growth of the Asian market.

Led by Richard Corrigan, Deputy Chief Executive, Jersey Finance, the event will feature keynote speeches and a panel session with industry experts, which will cover a range of topics including the global developments in transparency requirements, the need for substance in 21st century international finance centres, the growth of family offices and their increasing importance to UHNWIs.

The conference follows on from our successful 2014 and 2015 roadshows, and is set to attract a broad range of members of the local advisory community, including wealth practitioners, lawyers, investment managers and other finance professionals, and will provide a light lunch with plenty of networking opportunities.

As Interim Director of Financial Services for the Government of Jersey, Richard provides advice to Ministers on financial services matters and leads a team that supports sustainable and responsible development of Jersey's finance industry.

Prior to his secondment, Richard was Deputy CEO of Jersey Finance, where he led international teams covering Africa, Europe, GCC, Greater China, India, North America and the United Kingdom, promoting Jersey as a well-regulated, internationally cooperative financial centre.

In his earlier career, Richard managed a variety of business units within Barclays Bank plc and Royal Bank of Scotland Group, including various subsidiary board appointments.

Professionally, he is a member of both the Institute of Directors and the Institute of Financial Services. Richard is also a member of the Prince's Trust Steering Group for Jersey and Vice-Chair of the Board of Governors at Highlands College, Jersey.

Michael Olesnicky is a Senior Adviser to KPMG in Hong Kong. He has spent more than 25 years advising on corporate tax and tax dispute work, as well as wealth management and estate planning matters.

Michael has been the Chairman of the Joint Liaison Committee on Taxation, a quasi-governmental committee which interfaces between tax practitioners and the Hong Kong Inland Revenue Department. He has also served on the Hong Kong Inland Revenue Board of Review, as well as several other governmental and quasi -governmental tax committees in Hong Kong.

Michael was previously a member of the Law Faculty at Hong Kong University, where he remains as an Honorary Lecturer in the Department of Professional Legal Education.

Fiona joined Coutts & Co Trustees (Jersey) Limited in 2014 as the Head of New Business and a Board Director.

Fiona has over 25 years’ experience in wealth management and has travelled extensively to Asia and the Middle East working with clients and their advisers on all aspects of wealth structuring. Fiona has advised on complex high net worth structures such as private trust companies and private unit trusts dealing with all types of assets. She has responsibility for key clients in Asia, visiting the region at least twice a year.

Fiona is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) in Jersey and the International Compliance Association.

Samantha is an English and Hong Kong qualified solicitor and former branch chair of STEP Hong Kong 2013-2015. Her experience in the wealth management sector began in Allen & Overy’s private client department in 1995.

She moved to a family office as lead lawyer in 2002 before joining Withers, where she became a partner in its wealth planning department in 2005. Samantha helped launch Withers’ first Asian office in Hong Kong in 2008 and was its first office managing director and regional head of wealth planning for Asia. She is currently Head of Legal & Trust Management for Sir Elly Kadoorie & Sons Limited, a mature Hong Kong based single family office.

Joanna is a senior consultant in the private wealth team at Herbert Smith Freehills, as well as Head of Private Wealth – China. She is admitted as a solicitor of the High Court of Hong Kong and as a barrister and solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand. In keeping with the team's focus, she specialises in trusts, estates, family companies, charities and, increasingly, mental capacity issues. She provides both non-contentious and contentious advice. 


Robert Ayliffe

Robert joined Bedell Trust in November 2015 as Managing Director – Head of Asia, and his focus is on growing their services across the Asia region.

 

Originally from Jersey, where he was born and educated, Robert qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1996, after which he spent more than 15 years with PwC specialising in financial services working in Jersey, Kuala Lumpur and London. In 2007, he joined Capita Asset Services, delivering trust, corporate and fund administration services and moved to Singapore in 2013 to focus efforts on developing the Asia market across all service lines.

Since joining Bedell Trust, Robert has been working more closely with Asian-based clients in a wide variety of real estate investment, corporate and wealth management activities and continues to regularly use Jersey trusts and companies in client structuring.

An joined Jersey Finance in May 2016 as the Business Development Director for Greater China based in Hong Kong. Having studied law in Belgium at the University of Leuven, which included one Erasmus exchange year at Queen Mary and Westfield College in London, An then completed her LLM in international business law at Trinity College Dublin. Once qualified, An moved to Matheson’s Dublin office where she worked in the law firm’s international business team. She later moved to ATC Corporate Services in Luxembourg as a corporate lawyer and then a business unit manager. Following a merger between ATC Corporate Services and Intertrust Group, An joined the Intertrust Hong Kong office in 2014 as a business unit director for the European and private equity teams.
