Nicola Le Brocq › Director – Funds and Corporate, UK, Jersey Finance

Born in Jersey, Nicola has a strong regulatory background having spent over six years at the Jersey Financial Services Commission – working in Securities supervision, authorisation and enforcement – before moving into industry in investment gatekeeper and regulatory consultancy roles. During the last seven years, Nicola’s London based roles for two global financial technology companies saw her concentrate on regulatory technology solutions as a product and market specialist working extensively with Alternative Investment Managers in the UK and US.

Stuart Pinnington Head of Alternative Assets, IQ-EQ
Stuart is an experienced director having held various global board positions for over 12 years and worked in financial services for 20+ years. He previously worked as a funds lawyer in the City and the Caribbean; he also qualified as a Chartered Director with the Institute of Directors. He has worked for a global fund administration business initially as jurisdictional MD then as part of the group management board leading the group’s international funds division.

Robert Mirsky National Practice Leader of BDO’s Asset Management Practice
Robert Mirsky is the National Practice Leader of BDO’s Asset Management Practice. With more than 20 years of experience in advising financial services companies, banks, investors and asset managers, Robert has expertise in the structuring, fundraising and operational aspects of funds and managers and has considerable experience in structuring both offshore and onshore investment funds and has handled financial products, international mergers and acquisitions, tax, insurance and project financings. Robert has represented clients in the U.S. and abroad. He has lived and worked in London, New York, Washington, Milan, Bangkok and the Cayman Islands. Prior to BDO, Robert had been a Partner and Global Head of the Asset Management Practice at EisnerAmper. Robert has written extensively on both investment fund technical issues and industry trends. He is a frequent speaker before professional audiences and is often quoted in both the U.S., U.K. and international press.

Deirdre Haugh Partner, Kirkland & Ellis International LLP
Deirdre Haugh is a partner in the Kirkland & Ellis International LLP, London office. Her practice focusses on financial services regulation and fund matters. She works with a number of leading global private fund sponsors and, in particular, has extensive experience advising private equity, credit and real estate fund sponsors on a wide range of regulatory matters, including in connection with structuring, capital raising, deployment, restructuring/secondaries and operational matters. She provides regulatory advice on some of the market’s most complex M&A, private equity and restructuring transactions involving the financial services sector. Deirdre’s work also includes advising on the establishment and operation of UK FCA authorised firms as well as providing full-service compliance advice on financial services regulation.

Chris Patton Director, Head of Fund Solutions at Intertrust Group
Chris joined Intertrust in June 2020 as a director in our Private Equity Fund Services department. Before joining Intertrust, Chris worked in various leadership roles for two leading Jersey fund administrators, including as head of private equity for a number of years; and in Economic Development for Government of Jersey. Chris started his professional career with Deloitte in 2002, where he worked both in Jersey and London. Chris is a UK Chartered Tax Advisor and holds an ICA International Diploma in Governance, Risk and Compliance; and an undergraduate degree in Applied Microbiology.

Fiona McVeigh Director, Alternative Investment Funds, PwC United Kingdom
Fiona has over 15 years of professional services experience, beginning her tax career advising private clients before joining PwC in 2015 to work with alternative asset managers and funds. As part of PwC’s Alternative Investment Funds tax team Fiona focuses on fund formation and structuring, ongoing tax advice/compliance support throughout a fund’s life and advising on complex house level tax issues (e.g. reorganisations, overseas carried interest projects and DIMF analysis). Clients include global, UK and pan-European private equity and real estate fund managers as well as large family offices. Fiona is a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation.
