Nicola Le Brocq › Director – Funds and Corporate, UK, Jersey Finance

Born in Jersey, Nicola has a strong regulatory background having spent over six years at the Jersey Financial Services Commission – working in Securities supervision, authorisation and enforcement – before moving into industry in investment gatekeeper and regulatory consultancy roles.  During the last seven years, Nicola’s London based roles for two global financial technology companies saw her concentrate on regulatory technology solutions as a product and market specialist working extensively with Alternative Investment Managers in the UK and US.

Tim Morgan

Tim Morgan Partner, Maples Group

Tim Morgan is a partner and co-head of Maples and Calder's Jersey Funds & Investment Management team. He advises global fund sponsors, investors, boards and service providers across a variety of asset classes including private equity, venture, credit, real estate and liquid securities. Tim has acted on a wide range of private equity fund launches, and a number of the most innovative funds transactions in Jersey, including several GP-led restructuring deals, as well as on investment structures for financial institutions, family offices and other investors. In addition, Tim is a committee member and previously Chair of the Jersey Funds Association.

Kate Simpson

Kate Simpson Legal Counsel (Director of Transactions), Glendower Capital

Glendower Capital is a private equity firm focused on secondary private markets managing $12 billion in aggregate commitments across funds backed by leading institutional and private investors worldwide. Since January 2022, Glendower is part of CVC Capital Partners having entered into a merger and strategic partnership. Kate is Legal Counsel (Director of Transactions), responsible for overseeing legal aspects of transaction structuring and execution. Previously, Kate was General Counsel at Campbell Lutyens and a partner in the private funds group at both Proskauer and Kirkland Ellis.

Michael Moore

Michael and his colleagues are focused on supporting the development of the private capital industry, as it invests in thousands of businesses and supports millions of jobs across the UK. As policymakers work on the competitiveness of the UK’s investment climate, Michael is confident that private equity and venture capital will continue to create significant public value through investment in growth, innovation and people. Over the past 30 years Michael has operated at senior levels in both politics and business. In his political career he served in the Cabinet at the time of the Coalition Government, as Secretary of State for Scotland. He was a Member of Parliament for 18 years. After the 2015 General Election, Michael became a Senior Advisor at PwC. Prior to entering politics, he qualified as a chartered accountant with the firm.

Aleksander Bakic

Aleksander Bakic Investment Funds Partner, Kirkland & Ellis International LLP

Aleksander Bakic is an investment funds partner in the London office of Kirkland & Ellis International LLP. He advises clients on the structuring and negotiation of a wide range of secondary transactions, from fund book deals to GP and LP-led restructurings of single assets or wider portfolios. Aleks has particular experience in highly complex, cross-border transactions involving management spin-outs, stapled, syndicated and tendered deals, as well as deferred consideration. In addition, Aleks works with private equity funds and their investors on a wide range of investment funds matters. His experience spans across private equity, infrastructure and credit products, in established and developing markets. Aleks is recognised as a leading lawyer by Chambers UK, The Legal 500 and IFLR1000.

Jennifer Wall

Jennifer Wall Partner, Private Equity and Private Client Services, BDO

Jenny is a tax partner and leads BDO’s Private Equity Funds tax offering in the UK. She is a specialist in dealing with funds tax matters both in the UK and from an international perspective. Working closely with other advisers in the UK and around the world, Jenny delivers commercial, tax effective structures for clients, working hard to understand their needs. Jenny supports her clients throughout the whole fund lifecycle, from the tax set up of the fund structure, through overseeing tax reporting and compliance for funds, and advising on ad hoc matters. She advises on partnership, partner and corporate issues including those in international structures, and has extensive experience in working with tax matters affecting investment managers including the carried interest and disguised investment management fee rules.
