Jersey Finance: London Funds Masterclass – Legal and Technical Developments

Based in London, David is the Global Head of Private Equity at Sanne. In his role, David works with business leaders to refine and continue to drive strategic direction, management and delivery of Sanne’s private equity offering. David started his career at PwC Channel Islands supporting private equity fund managers and their structures. He later moved to Singapore, also with PwC, where he was a director responsible for leading their Asset & Wealth Management Assurance and Advisory engagements. David was a key leader in the formation of PwC Singapore’s Venture Hub, a business unit focused on servicing Venture Capital clients. David joined Sanne in 2019 as the Country Head of Singapore where he was responsible for driving Sanne’s alternatives and corporate offering in Singapore and relocated to London in July 2021.

Chris has broad experience of both general international corporate and funds work with particular expertise in private equity and hedge funds, having spent ten years in the City at two leading international firms and a large hedge fund. Chris advises on all aspects of fund and corporate transactions, including the legal and regulatory aspects of fund launches, and joint ventures. He also has considerable experience in dealing with the Jersey Financial Services Commission in navigating investment vehicles through the Jersey regulatory approval process as part of the Jersey funds team. He also spearheads Carey Olsen's crypto practice, having advised on a series of token offerings/ICOs, crypto funds and crypto exchanges.

Mike is a partner in the Channel Islands firm of PwC, Jersey. Specialising in alternative funds, Mike has over 20 years experience working with clients across all areas of financial services, including established businesses and start-ups. Mike is the Asset Management industry leader for PwC CI, bringing together our assurance, tax and regulatory solutions service offerings to the asset management sector and coordinates the great work our PwC network firms do across the EMEA region for alternative asset managers and funds, as Alternative Funds leader for PwC EMEA. Mike undertook a secondment with PwC Singapore (2012 -2014) as Head of Private Equity and is an Executive Committee member of the Jersey Funds Association, the body that represents the wider funds industry on Island.

Jill Britton is the Interim Director General at the Jersey financial Services Commission (JFSC). In her role, Jill is responsible for leading the JFSC in its day-to-day operations as both regulator and registry, and ensuring the organisations delivers its strategic priorities. Jill was the Executive Director of Supervision between May 2016 and September 2021. In this role, she was responsible for overseeing the regulation of Jersey’s financial services industry and the supervision of other sectors for anti-money laundering and terrorist financing. She initially worked in our Supervision team from 2002 to 2004. Jill has over 25 years’ experience in the financial services industry in the UK, Jersey and Asia, having specialised in compliance and operational risk management for global banking organisations. She was the Chief Risk Officer for Coutts Asia between 2009 and 2011 and the Head of Operational Risk for South East Asia at Standard Chartered between 2011 and 2013.

Aranpreet is a partner in Proskauer's Private Funds Group in London. She advises European and international clients on the structuring, formation and operation of both open- and closed-ended investment funds across a range of strategies, including private equity, growth, infrastructure, and real estate. Aranpreet also counsels clients on spin-outs, co-investments, end of life restructurings, and carried interest and co-investment schemes.
