Faizal Bhana › Director – Middle East, Africa and India, Jersey Finance

Faizal is a UK qualified lawyer and for many years has worked and advised, and is a trusted advisor to institutions, corporates and families across the Middle East, Africa and India. Faizal specialises in banking and finance and has advised corporates, family offices and families including on their international investment and holding structures.

Faizal is responsible for developing the strategy for Jersey Finance’s engagement in Africa, the Middle East and India. He is focussed on his key markets, regularly travelling to all these countries, liaising and working with key stakeholders, including public and private institutions, corporates and families, building long-term mutually beneficial relationships.

Hamish Keith

Hamish Keith Senior Partner, CMS Daly Inamdar Advocates

Hamish is a Senior Partner and the Head of the Firm’s Corporate and Commercial Department. His legal practice and invaluable experience in Kenya spans close to 50 years. Hamish is renowned for his experience across various corporate and commercial practice areas, both locally and internationally. In addition to this, he has substantial experience in capital markets, banking and commercial transactions, including large business projects and major financing, privatisations, and mergers and acquisitions. Hamish is dual-qualified as a Solicitor of England and Wales, as well as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. He is also a practicing Certified Public Secretary. As a thought leader, he provides clients with a breadth of thorough legal and practical commercial advice in all transactions.

Haanee Khan

Haanee Khan Partner, CMS Daly Inamdar Advocates

Haanee is a Partner in the Corporate & Commercial Department. His primary area of practice is Corporate & Commercial law with a niche focus in the Aviation industry. Haanee is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with substantial experience in both Corporate M&A transactions and Aviation Finance & Regulatory work. In his capacity as a corporate lawyer, Haanee has been involved in a range of private equity matters, mergers and acquisitions cutting across a range of specialist sectors, including healthcare, communications, aviation, and banking. In his capacity as an Aviation lawyer, he has advised airlines, leasing companies, and lenders on an array of matters and has regularly featured as a speaker at various key aviation events.

Gaym Asmelash Group Co/Chairman, Ascent Capital

Gaym is the Group Co/Chairman at ALET F&B Holdings with over 15 years of experience in private equity and business. His passion is to see world-class business enterprises emerge from Africa and grow beyond the boundaries of time and geography. Gaym has provided consultancy works for the likes of DHL Express, MARK Investment Group and Great Abyssinia PLC. Previously, Gaym was the Investment Director at Ascent Capital, a $200M+ AUM East Africa Focused PE Fund, Managing Director at AXIOS Business Services PLC and Manager at Kefita Trading PLC. Gaym was responsible for the organisation of the National Business Forum 2013 and Addis CEO club quarterly events.

Robert Monticelli

Robert Monticelli Senior Director - Private Client Services, JTC Group

Robert is a Senior Director within JTC’s Private Client Services division and is responsible for a team that manages a diverse portfolio of high net worth international clients. He has a strong focus on client service and oversees a number of structures incorporating various asset types ranging from real estate to yachts and aircraft. Robert’s role also encompasses business development in Southern Africa, where he carries out a regular visitation programme. Robert is an experienced trust and estate practitioner with over 35 years’ experience in the financial services sector, of which nearly 20 were spent working with AIB Trust in Jersey.

Kathleen Jean-Pierre

Kathleen Jean-Pierre Vision & Delivery Lead, CrossBoundary Energy

Kathleen is the vision and delivery lead at CrossBoundary Energy (CBE), Africa’s first financier for commercial and industrial solar. She manages the strategic growth and pan-African operations of organisation. Kathleen develops CBE’s partnerships with public and private stakeholders across the industry, directs the daily operations of CBE’s distributed energy platform, and leads regulatory leads engagement on CBE’s pioneering business model. Previously Kathleen was a project developer for SunEdison’s commercial solar division, managing portfolios of up to 20MW on the US East Coast. She has also consulted for Dalberg in Washington DC and Dakar. Kathleen is an alumna of Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs.

Qahir Neky

Qahir Neky Executive Director, Mammoth Foam

Qahir is the Executive Director at Mammoth Foam Africa (MFA), East & Southern Africa’s largest polyurethane foam manufacturing company with operations across Mauritius, Kenya, Uganda, and Malawi. He joined the MFA team following the conclusion of an investment by Catalyst Fund II to create the group in 2018, which he led. Qahir has over 12 years of PE experience having led, structured, executed, and managed over USD 200 million in direct equity transactions into leading African companies in the beverage, LPG gas, forestry, infrastructure, and FMCG sectors across Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Ghana, Rwanda, Morocco, and South Africa. He was previously an Investment Manager at Catalyst Principal Partners and DEG and started his career as an analyst at TD Securities in Toronto, Canada.
