Jersey Finance were delighted to be an Event Partner at the Saudi British Joint Business Council ‘UK/Saudi Sustainable Investment Forum’ which took place on 13 July 2021 in London.

The Forum brought together Saudi and British investors with government representatives who discussed the partnership and investment opportunities available to support the transition towards greener and less oil-dependent economies.

Faizal Bhana, our Director – Middle East, Africa and India, joined a panel of experts on the First Panel Session to provide insights on: “How can the financial sector best support the transition to a green economy, net-zero carbon emissions and more sustainable and inclusive growth?

  • Mobilising ESG funds and impact investing to support a green-led recovery
  • Socially responsible investing: achieving value creation through longer term returns
  • Increasing convergence between Shariah compliant funds and ESG investing
  • The role of London as a connector and source of advice on green finance and sustainable infrastructure funding

Building on the success of SBJBC’s Sustainable Investment Roundtable on 28 October 2020, the Forum discussed how the UK can act as a connector and respected source of knowledge on green finance, as well as supporting the financing of sustainable infrastructure projects. It also highlighted the important steps that Saudi Arabia is taking to transition from an oil-based economy through the launch of giga projects such as Red Sea Development and Neom, which prioritise sustainable development and which will be powered entirely from renewable energy sources.
