Jersey employment law is a rapidly developing area and, with legislation in respect of redundancy procedure and statutory compensation coming into force in 2010 and discrimination legislation proposed in due course, there are many changes and challenges ahead.
In order to help employers and employees alike, Sinels are providing free advice on employment law matters at fortnightly clinics throughout 2010.
The 20-minute appointments will provide initial advice to interested parties on their particular concerns, and guidance as to the legal and practical steps that can be taken towards dealing with employment issues.
Advice will be available on the following aspects of employment law: dismissal; redundancy; dispute resolution; employment contracts; compromise agreements; grievance and disciplinary hearings; enforceability of restrictive covenants; representation in the Jersey Employment Tribunal and the Royal Court; review, revision and drafting of policies and staff handbooks.
The consultations will take place on the first and third Tuesday of each month at Sinels’ offices, 79 Bath Street, St Helier. The next clinic is on 20 April 2010.
