Mourant, a law firm-led professional services business, is hosting its annual Trusts Forum in Jersey on 14 October featuring a keynote talk from cyber security expert David Ferbrache OBE focused on the digital future and the risks posed by cyber crime.

David is Managing Director of Beyond Blue and works with global firms to help exercise executive committees and boards on the challenges of cyber security and operational resilience. He is also KPMG’s global head of cyber futures and chair of the Scottish National Cyber Resilience Advisory Board.

David’s keynote will discuss how cyber criminals operate, the way criminals exploit businesses and their data, and what firms can do to guard against cyber crime.

“David’s first-hand experience of dealing with the unique challenges cyber and resilience pose for global leadership teams will certainly be of interest to the business community in Jersey,” said Edward Devenport, Partner and International Practice Group Head at Mourant.

“With the States of Jersey recently establishing the first Cyber Emergency Response Team in the Crown Dependencies to help business communities reduce the risk and impact of cyber incidents it’s timely to be discussing the importance of addressing the risks posed by cyber crime at our Forum.

“The working world has changed dramatically over the last 18 months as we’ve all had to embrace remote working and new technology. Cyber criminals are taking advantage of this situation so it’s more important than ever that firms understand how to protect themselves and improve their cyber resilience. David will offer valuable and practical advice on this during his keynote.”

Mourant’s leading International Trusts and Private Client team will be joined at the Forum by industry experts from a range of firms including Macfarlanes, Stephenson Harwood, Ince Gordon Dadds, Wilberforce Chambers and Serle Court to deliver insights on key topics and trends in the private client sector.

Sessions will cover a range of subjects including case law updates, tax issues for trustees, economic substance, mandatory disclosure rules (MDRs) and forthcoming challenges and opportunities for the private wealth sector.
The Forums are sponsored by Butterfield and BDO. Paul Hodgson, Managing Director of Butterfield Trust, will chair the events.

The Jersey Trusts Forum is on 14 October 2021 at The Royal Yacht Hotel. Tickets can be purchased via the Mourant website https://www.tickettailor.com/events/mourant/318423
