Leading independent fund and corporate services provider, the Aztec Group, has announced its latest round of promotions. Over 90 employees have been promoted, including five individuals to Director and Associate Director roles.

The latest round of promotions takes the total number of staff promoted over the last 12 months to 211, accounting for nearly a quarter of the total workforce.

Strengthening the leadership team, there have been five senior promotions in Jersey:

Emily Sturgess has been promoted to Director, Operational Resilience. Since joining the Aztec Group in 2010, Emily has led the growth and development of several client relationship teams, and spent a period of time leading the Group’s fund services offering in Sweden. Emily’s new role will see her leading a dedicated operational resilience team, focused on the ongoing development and oversight of the Group’s operating controls.

Phil Whittock has been promoted to Director and Head of Infrastructure and Information Security. Joining the Group in 2017, Phil was recruited to drive the company’s information security strategy, and build and lead the information security team. In his new role, Phil’s mandate will be broadened to include overall responsibility for the Group’s IT infrastructure.

Nadia Assaadi-Irtizaali has been promoted to Associate Director within the Group’s Private Equity team. Nadia joined the Aztec Group as a Client Relationship Manager in 2013, and has played a pivotal role in growing a core client team from five to more than 70 people, as well as contributing to the development of the Group’s internal controls and wellbeing initiatives.

Also promoted to Associate Director in the Private Equity team is Fe Sapalo, who joined the Group as a Financial Reporting Manager in 2015. With over 10 years’ audit and accounting financial services experience, Fe oversees the operations of several teams administering funds for a significant client.

Within the Training and Development team, Gary Millns has been promoted to Associate Director. Gary joined the Aztec Group in 2017 as Senior Training and Development Manager, and has been instrumental in further developing the Group’s dedicated training centre, the Aztec Academy. Responsible for the professional development of over 900 employees across seven offices, Gary will continue to oversee the training team as well as develop the Group’s leadership and management training programmes.
