Baker Tilly Channel Islands is proud to continues its support of para discus thrower Rachel Leck for 2025. Rachel, who has cerebral palsy, is a trailblazer in the Channel Islands sports community whose achievements inspire us all.
Last year, Rachel was selected to represent England at the Manchester International, where team England took home a gold medal. Rachel also became the first athlete in any para event to represent Jersey at a Commonwealth training camp. Traveling to Mauritius, she took part in the Commonwealth GAPS (Gather, Adjust, Prepare, Sustain) initiative, showcasing her commitment to excellence and her aspirations for Glasgow 2026.
In addition to her accomplishments on the field, Rachel recently secured a place in UK Athletics’ prestigious Paralympic Futures programme. This pathway supports athletes and coaches with the potential to succeed at future Paralympic Games. As one of five newcomers to the 2024-25 cohort, Rachel will receive development opportunities through a series of camps aimed at preparing her for the Paralympic World Class programme.
Ewan Spraggon, Managing Director at Baker Tilly Channel Islands, commented, “We are delighted to continue supporting Rachel for a third year and to be part of her incredible journey. Her determination, talent, and commitment are truly inspiring, and we look forward to continuing to provide the resources and encouragement she needs to achieve her goals. Supporting Rachel as she excels in her Paralympic sporting career is a reflection of our values as a firm – empowering individuals to reach their full potential.”
As Rachel looks ahead to 2025, her goals include qualifying for one of the World Para Athletics Grand Prix events and the World Para Athletics Championships. She also has her sights set on the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow 2026, where she hopes to represent Jersey on the international stage.
Rachel expressed her gratitude, saying, “I am incredibly thankful for the support Baker Tilly Channel Islands has provided as my employer. Their encouragement and financial backing have crucial in helping me access opportunities that are key to my development as an athlete. Thanks to their continued support, I’ve been able to create a strong presence in the British Athletics community and hold discussions with multiple pathway and performance leads this past year. During this time, I also completed my first full athletics season as a nationally and internationally classified para athlete. I’m excited to keep progressing, both in my athletics career and professionally, with such a supportive team behind me.”
At Baker Tilly Channel Islands, we are inspired by Rachel’s dedication, perseverance, and passion. Supporting her journey aligns with our commitment to empowering individuals to reach their full potential. We look forward to seeing Rachel achieve even greater success in the years to come.
Congratulations, Rachel, on your incredible achievements so far. We are proud to stand beside you every step of the way!
