Participants of the third annual Barclays Wealth Charity Golf Day have raised in excess of £10,300 for local charity, Family Nursing and Home Care.
18 teams teed off at 9am on Friday 30th July at La Moye Golf Course. Following a day of intense competition and good fun, participants enjoyed a tasty lunch in the clubhouse, and even more money was raised for the charity in donations and raffle ticket sales. Funds raised at the raffle were matched by Barclays Wealth’s £4£ scheme.
Pam Massey, CEO of Family Nursing and Home Care, explained why donations of this kind are so important to the service. ‘Family Nursing and Home Care is a charitable organisation that offers nursing care in the community from cradle to grave. This includes health visiting advice and support, school nursing, community paediatric nursing as well as home care and district nursing services for post operative care and advice to maintain patients with long term chronic diseases to enable them to stay at home and prevent avoidable admission to hospital. In order to do this we have to find £2 million each year to fund the short fall from our HSS grant to sustain these services. Events such as this provide us with a very welcome boost to our fundraising efforts, for which we would like to express our grateful thanks to Barclays Wealth’.
The event ended in good spirits with prizes being awarded for Best Team, Longest Drive, Nearest the Pin and Best Lady Golfer. ‘Getting involved and supporting the communities in which we operate is a key objective of Barclays Wealth and one that our team is particularly proud of. The golf day was a fabulous event and I’m delighted that we have raised such a significant amount of money for our chosen charity, Family Nursing & Home Care. Barclays Wealth is proud to pay for all costs to enable every team entry donation and all pledges on the day to be given directly to the charity,’ said Paul Savery, Managing Director, Barclays Wealth Intermediaries and International Jersey, Guernsey and Isle of Man.
In addition to the 72 golfers, Barclays Wealth also hosted a golf clinic for beginners, open exclusively to women. This initiative was organised as part of Barclays Wealth’s Women’s initiatives Network (WiN). The group, which was established in Jersey in November 2009 and forms part of a 300 member strong
