BBC news journalist, Sarah Montague, will act as facilitator for a forthcoming Barclays Wealth panel debate at which key decision makers in business will be learning about the Russian economy.
The event, which will take place on Wednesday 24th November, will provide attendees with a deeper understanding of topical issues in the Russian economy and wealth management industry. Ms Montague will be joined by guest speakers Senator Philip Ozouf, Minister for Treasury and Resources, Martina Baletkova from Barclays Wealth International Private Bank, Kathy Gillen from Moore Stephens, James Ruane from Mourant Ozannes and Nick Ward from Ogier.
‘We are delighted to be hosting such an interesting event which will allow our guests to further develop their knowledge of a key jurisdiction in today’s global financial market place,’ said Richard Corrigan, Director, Wealth Intermediaries and Wealth International, Barclays Wealth.
‘We at Barclays Wealth boast expertise in key global markets and want to take this opportunity to share some of this knowledge. We can also draw on the expertise of specialists from other organisations to ensure the panel debate is well balanced. I’m also delighted to welcome Sarah Montague of the BBC as our facilitator, I think she will do a fantastic job.’
The discussion will cover topics such as where we currently sit in the economic cycle and how this impacts growth prospects in Russia and for Barclays; the key opportunities for doing business in Russia today; distinctions that mark out the Non-Resident Russian (“NRR”) market from the domestic Russian market; why many Russian corporates and high net worth clients make the Channel Islands their preferred choice; why Barclays Wealth and the broader Barclays Group chose to build out a significant domestic presence within Russia and what should be considered when setting up a Trust company in Russia.
Guernsey born Ms Montague began her career as a stockbroker and Eurobond dealer in London.
