Bedell Cristin in Guernsey has made two new recent appointments and is pleased to welcome Abi Houghton and Seth Botes to its growing team.

Abi Houghton has joined Bedell Cristin as an Associate in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution team and Seth Botes has joined as an Associate in the Corporate and Finance team.

Abi completed a Law degree at the University of Kent and has moved to Guernsey from London, where she dealt with a broad range of commercial matters including telecommunications, professional negligence and more recently collective actions.

Seth Botes comes from slightly further afield, moving from South Africa to Guernsey, having become interested in the Island after supporting a trust company that held interests there. Seth holds a Master’s degree in international trade law and has a range of experience across relevant sectors, including banking and finance, corporate and commercial and real estate.

Alasdair Davidson, Head of Litigation in Guernsey and Kate Ovenden, Guernsey Managing Partner and Head of Financial Services Law in Guernsey, collectively agreed: “We are both delighted to welcome Abi and Seth to the firm. They will bring fresh insight and expertise to their roles and contribute significantly to the continued growth and success of the Guernsey office.”

Abi Houghton added: “It has been a fantastic experience to move to Guernsey to join the team at Bedell Cristin; I have received an incredibly warm welcome. The work I am doing has many similarities to my London practice but life in Guernsey is very different. We work hard in the office, but in my free time, I have been enjoying the beach life and exploring the beautiful scenery of Guernsey. I feel very lucky to have joined such a great firm.”

Seth Botes confirmed: “I am excited to be joining Bedell Cristin in Guernsey as it has been on my radar as a great place to live and work for several years. As someone with an ocean heritage, I already feel very much at home on the Island and have been making the most of living so close to the sea again. The team has made me feel very welcome and I am enjoying familiarising myself with the complexities of Guernsey law.”
