HSBC Bank International, which is headquartered in Jersey, has received global recognition for its internet banking services.

HSBC Bank International was named ‘Best Consumer Internet Bank’ at the Global Finance Internet Banking Awards 2010, which were held in New York in late 2010. Having won the Channel Islands award in the preliminary regional category, the Bank went on to pick up the overall top consumer internet banking award in the Global category too, fending off strong competition from Wells Fargo, Standard Chartered, Banco Santander, Citi and Samba Financial Group.

The Bank’s website (www.offshore.hsbc.com), which was developed under the coordination of its Jersey-based online team, was re-launched last year with a brand new look and an enhanced range of services specifically designed for its international expatriate customers.

The Global Finance Internet Banking Awards, now in their 11th year, highlight the global banking industry’s capabilities in using and developing internet services, with almost 250 individual banks from around the world entering this year. Judging was undertaken by a panel of technology experts and the magazine’s editors, who assessed entries on a mixture of criteria, including the ability to attract and service customers online, the growth of online customers and website design and functionality.
