Jersey Finance is proud to announce an exciting opportunity for Jersey’s primary school children! We are inviting them to showcase their creativity and celebrate our Island’s unique natural environment. As part of our Sustainable Finance Summit, we are launching an art competition to highlight the beauty of Jersey’s local plants, wildlife and habitats.
About the competition
The competition is open to all primary-school aged children in Jersey.
Entries will be judged across three age categories:
Reception to Year 2
Years 3 to 4
Years 5 to 6
Winners in each category will receive fantastic prizes, kindly sponsored by BNP Paribas:
1st Prize: A choice of a voucher for Jersey Zoo or Collins Stationers to the value of £100
2nd Prize: A choice of a voucher for Jersey Zoo or Collins Stationers to the value of £50
3rd Prize: A choice of a voucher for Jersey Zoo or Collins Stationers to the value of £20
Entries will also be displayed during our Sustainable Finance Summit at The Freedom Centre. This is taking place from Monday 10 March to Thursday 13 March. Our judges will select a shortlist for display if there are too many entries to display them all.
How to enter
Children are invited to create an A4 artwork using any materials they like (photography will not be accepted) celebrating Jersey’s plants, wildlife, and habitats. An image or scan of the artwork should be submitted via email to skills@jerseyfinance.je by Friday 14 February, and please include the child’s name, age and school/home-school details.
Why take part?
This competition provides an excellent opportunity for children to:
- Express their creativity while learning about sustainability and Jersey’s natural heritage.
- See their work displayed at a prominent event and gain recognition for their talents.
- Contribute to a celebration of Jersey’s commitment to a more sustainable future.
Inspiring the next generation
As a leading international finance centre, Jersey has the opportunity to be at the forefront of sustainable finance—using the flow of global capital to drive positive environmental and social change. By involving the next generation, we aim to inspire young minds to think creatively about the importance of protecting our planet.
This initiative is proudly supported by EcoActive and has been made possible through sponsorship from BNP Paribas.
We encourage all children, whether participating through their schools or independently, to get involved, to celebrate the natural beauty of Jersey and their creativity too!
Terms and Conditions
The competition is open to all primary school-aged children residing in Jersey. Artworks should be original work and produced without assistance from any third party. Multiple entries are not permitted.
Entries will be judged by a panel from Jersey Finance, EcoActive and BNP Paribas. The judges’ decisions are final and no correspondence regarding decisions will be entered into.
One first, one second and one third place winner will be selected from each age category. Prizes of equivalent value to those announced above will be confirmed closer to the submission deadline.
By submitting their artwork, entrants grant the competition organisers the right to display and use the images for promotional purposes. The entrant’s name, year group and/or school may be displayed alongside their artwork, but no email address or contact information will be published. If a parent or guardian prefers for the entrants’ name to remain undisclosed, they must notify us by email at the time of submission.
All entries must be submitted by a parent or guardian of the entrant.
Entries open on 6 January 2025 and close on Friday 14 February 2025 at 23:59.
Late entries will not be considered.
By submitting artwork for the competition, you agree that the child’s name, school, year group, and the email address used for submission will be collected and stored solely for the purpose of administering the competition and presenting prizes. Unless otherwise specified by the parent or guardian at the time of submission, this information (excluding email addresses) will also be displayed alongside artwork at the exhibition, in any press announcements and in announcing the winner. All personal data including email addresses will be securely deleted following the conclusion of the competition and prize distribution.
