Channel Islands law firm Carey Olsen has been named international offshore law firm of the year and client focused law firm of the year by leading mergers and acquisitions publication ACQ.
This is the fourth successive occasion on which Carey Olsen has received this award, the firm having been given the leading offshore law firm accolade in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
The ACQ Global Awards celebrate the best advisors working across the world. The firms are nominated by the magazine’s 31,000 subscribers working in the M&A field, including private equity houses, investors, bankers and lawyers. The process is fully independent and confidentially collated.
Carey Olsen chairman John Kelleher said the awards provided a snapshot of those active in a key sector of the market and demonstrated who that market most respected.
“Carey Olsen has been a lead advisor on a number of recent high profile M&A deals and we believe it is the high level of service and our demonstrable expertise which has been acknowledged here,” he said.
“We are particularly pleased with the client focused law firm of the year award which demonstrates that our commitment to provide our clients with the highest standards of service is recognised by those with whom we work.”
Carey Olsen most recently advised Close Brothers Group plc on the landmark sale of its trust, fund administration, asset management and banking businesses in Jersey and Guernsey to Kleinwort Benson for £29.1 million. The deal between two of the biggest administration groups in the Channel Islands is the largest sale across the islands in recent years and was led by corporate partners Graham Hall in Guernsey and Mike Jeffrey in Jersey with the support of a Channel Islands cross-practice team.
