Pierre Horsfall, CBE, chairman of Jersey Finance and also John Henwood, MBE, the Board’s vice chairman, have both come to the end of their constitutional terms as members of the board of Jersey Finance.

At the meeting attended by more than 70 members of the Finance Industry, , Geoff Cook, chief executive of Jersey Finance, thanked Pierre Horsfall and John Henwood for their support and significant contribution to the organisation. He went on to acknowledge the valuable input made to the board, and the excellent ambassadorial role both had played for the Jersey finance industry at home and abroad. 
 
Further to this, Martin Spurling, chief executive officer, HSBC Bank International and Clive Spears, chairman of Nordic Capital Limited, have now been approved as new board representatives by members of Jersey Finance.
 
Jonathan White, has been appointed as the new chairman of Jersey Finance, and Geoffrey Grime, one of the founders of Jersey Finance, has been appointed  as vice chairman. Both appointments will take effect from the 8th July 2009.

Note to Editors
Board of Jersey Finance – comprises representatives of the Finance Industry, two senior executive members from Jersey Finance, and two States representatives. Jersey Finance is funded jointly by annual subscription of private sector members and by a States grant, with non executive directors from both sources providing governance and strategic input.
Martin Spurling – was appointed Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Bank International in 2006. He leads the Jersey-headquartered offshore bank of HSBC Bank plc which provides international banking and investment services. He joined HSBC as an International Manager in 1989.
Clive Spears – is the chairman of Nordic Capital Limited in Jersey and has a number of other non executive appointments including roles at the Nomura Group and Jersey Post. He started his career with William’s & Glyn’s Bank in London moving to Jersey 25 years ago. He is the President of the Jersey Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. and an Associate of The Chartered Institute of Bankers and a Member of The Securities & Investment Institute.  
Jonathan White – is a member of STEP, the Institute of Directors and is chairman of Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust. After joining Ogier in 1985 he was admitted to the partnership in 1987, becoming managing partner of Ogier & Le Cornu in 1991 and holding the position of group chairman until January of this year. He is a solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and an advocate of the Royal Court of Jersey.
Geoffrey Grime – is chairman of the Jersey Electricity Company, Computer Patent Annuities Ltd and EFG Offshore Ltd. Previously he served as a Deputy of the States of Jersey (2002 to 2005) and as chairman of Abacus Financial Services, a leading Channel Islands trust company, of which he was a founder.   He is a chartered accountant and began his career with Cooper Brothers & Co in Jersey, before becoming the senior partner of Coopers Lybrand.
