Ogier has joined forces with Offshore Professional Conferences to stage the 6th Investment Funds Update Conference in Jersey. The conference takes place on 7 November 2012 at The L'Horizon Hotel and will be chaired by Ogier partner, Tim Morgan.
This annual investment funds conference will bring together leading practitioners, representatives of the States of Jersey as well as onshore advisers. Speakers will look at the latest trends and the core issues at the forefront of the Investment Funds industry, including practical issues relating to the AIFMD, and will consider how Jersey's industry is placed to manage and adapt to the challenges that lie ahead.
The line up of speakers includes Senator Alan Maclean, Minister for Economic Development, States of Jersey; city law firm partners including Gregg Beechey, Partner at SJ Berwin and Aaron Stocks, Partner at Travers Smith; as well as Wendy Dorman from PwC and Malin Nilsson, Director of Kinetic Partners. There will also be insight on recent litigation in the Channel Islands Courts involving funds as well as an update on recent legal and regulatory developments in Jersey.
Tim Morgan said “there are great private equity opportunities for the Channel Islands in the context of what are otherwise challenging regulatory and tax changes such as AIFMD and FATCA. It is particularly useful to be able to bring together local expertise together with input from leading City law firms, and I am delighted that speakers from both Travers Smith and SJ Berwin will be able to provide this valuable perspective. This conference will be a very efficient forum for practitioners in all parts of the market so that they can discuss the solutions to these challenges and find out how Jersey can capitalise on the opportunities that are out there.”
The conference will carry six hours of Law Society CPD accreditation. For full programme details and how to book, please contact the organisers, Offshore Professional Conferences Ltd at firstname.lastname@example.org.
