A strong track record in litigation and a key role in some of Jersey’s biggest cases sees Crill Canavan maintain its top ranking in Chambers and Partners Global Directory 2010.
Detailing the dispute resolution work undertaken by Crill Canavan, Chambers states: ‘In recent years, it has won key roles in some of the island’s largest cases, thanks to its strong track record and dedication to client care.’
Key individuals in the litigation team are named as senior litigation partner Nuno Santos Costa, trust litigation specialist Damian James and experienced commercial litigator Kathryn Purkis.
Chambers sources describe Advocate Santos Costa as having a ‘good court instinct and excellent cross-examination skills’. He said: ‘It is always good to be recognised for the work that you have done well, especially in a forum which reflects well on the whole firm. We work extremely hard at Crill Canavan to achieve the best results for our clients and this is one of the key findings made by the researchers for Chambers.’
Advocate Purkis was the other senior member of the team representing the first defendant in the Alhamrani litigation – one of the biggest local litigation cases of recent years – and is noted by Chambers for her sharp intellect and excellent organisational skills.
The directory also recognises the firm’s head of investment funds Andrew Pinel as an up and coming lawyer providing ‘an enthusiastic and thorough service’. Crill Canavan’s investment funds offering has grown quickly and successfully over the past three years. Advocate Pinel commented: ‘The positive reviews in Chambers and Legal 500 over the past three years have reflected the success of our team in obtaining and retaining investment funds clients and providing a service with which those clients have been extremely pleased’.
