Two advocates at Crill Canavan have seen their rankings rise in the latest release of the Chambers and Partners Europe guide, which was released on Friday.
Advocate Nuno Santos Costa has risen to a band 1 ranking in the Europe guide – a rating which matches the UK rankings released in April. Advocate Andrew Pinel, who heads up the Investment Funds team, appears in the Europe guide for the first time this month as an ‘up and coming’ lawyer – a position which again matches his UK ranking. The firm’s record in dispute resolution had already earned it a top ranking with Chambers.
As was the case with the UK guide, the strength of Crill Canavan’s litigation work has been key to the ranking. The directory notes that as well as taking on central roles in some of the Island’s largest cases, the typical workload of the dispute resolution team involved general commercial litigation, fraud and asset tracing, funds litigation, family law and financial services disputes. Both Advocate Santos Costa and Advocate Kathryn Purkis were singled out for comment, the former for his courtroom presence and the latter for her sharp intellect.
Advocate Santos Costa said that as with the UK guide, the Chambers Europe directory rankings provided a very positive comment on the firm’s approach towards its clients. ‘’Chambers has noted once again Crill Canavan’s dedication to client care. It is particularly gratifying that their independent researchers have chosen to highlight this as an overall strength with the department and the firm,” he said.
Advocate Pinel said that recent reviews of the Investment Funds team, in both the Chambers UK and Europe directories for 2010, reflected the hard work of the team and the service it provides for investment funds clients. “Both client and directory feedback has been excellent. We intend to build on our achievements thus far by continuing to provide the best possible service to our clients,” he said.
Trust litigation specialist Advocate Damian James and experienced commercial litigator Advocate Kathryn Purkis have both maintained their previous rankings in the Europe directory, as have Crill Canavan’s Advocate Paul Wilson, Advocate Richard Pirie, Advocate Paul Harben, and Geoffrey Crill, who is a consultant for the firm following his retirement earlier this year.
