Crill Canavan’s Advocate Richard Pirie has recently been accepted as an Overseas Member of the Insolvency Lawyers Association, and is one of only two Jersey lawyers to be members.
A key member of the firm’s Insolvency Team, Advocate Pirie acts for both commercial clients and liquidators. He said that ILA membership provides a number of opportunities and benefits for its members who have a common interest in insolvency and restructuring.
‘ILA provides invaluable regular updates on case law decisions and other developments and is very useful for networking and sharing know-how. Insolvency work increasingly involves cross-border issues, so with members in more than a dozen countries ILA provides vital contacts with experienced insolvency lawyers in most of the principal jurisdictions of the world.
Founded in 1989, the ILA provides a forum for lawyers practising in the fields of insolvency law and restructuring practice to co-operate on matters of professional interest. The ILA is also able to represent its views to governments and to professional bodies having an interest in insolvency law and restructuring practice.
Overseas members are invited to join the ILA by members of the association’s council or are provided with references by full members who have knowledge of the applicant’s competency.
