Greg Nugent was Director of Brand, Marketing and Culture of the London Olympics and Paralympics and among his responsibilities were customer relations, the branding of merchandise and the overall look of the Games. He built a database of 5.5 million, turned volunteers into Gamesmakers and coined the phrase ‘Inspiring a Generation’ as a beacon of hope for the nation. Before the Olympics, Greg was Head of Marketing at Eurostar and he has since acted as strategic advisor to HS2, the new high speed rail link to the north, and is Deputy Chair of the Join In Trust, building on the volunteering legacy of the Gamesmakers.
Greg presented to a large number of marketeers and business development specialists, PR managers, IT and HR professionals on Thursday (July 11) at the Hotel de France at an event organised by Jersey Finance, with Digital Jersey providing lead sponsorship, The event, entitled ‘Delivering the Digital Difference: How to be a digital winner’, commenced with a network lunch and included a questions and answer session following the presentation by Greg, as well as an interactive session in which groups were challenged to tackle a digital marketing issue with a prize awarded for the best response.
In his presentation, Greg focused on his experience from the mammoth sporting events of 2012 which he suggested could be applied to any brand or business of any size or type. This included the importance of planning, training and defining a vision to developing a customer experience and involving everyone in the challenges faced by the organisation.
