The humble office ‘dress down’ day is more than just a bit of fun; it can be a powerful fundraising tool.
Staff at RBC Wealth Management in Jersey and Guernsey used a series of dress down days in March to raise more than £4,000 for disaster relief projects and the BBC Sport Relief campaign.
In total, Jersey staff raised approximately £3,000 of which almost £1,000 went to the Jersey Side by Side Madeira appeal and £776 was collected for the Red Cross to provide relief for survivors of the Chilean earthquake. Over £1,200 was then raised at the end of the month for Sport Relief.
Anna Gordinho, Chairman for RBC Wealth Management’s Jersey Sports & Social Committee was impressed with the staff’s generosity. ‘This shows how the simplest ideas can be used to great effect,’ she said. ‘Normally our Sports & Social Committee hold one dress down day per month in aid of a nominated charity. Following the incredible response to the Red Cross Haiti Appeal where staff in Jersey and Guernsey raised over £2,100, the Committee held extra days in March to help those affected in Madeira and Chile. The response was fantastic.’
Guernsey staff contributed just over £1,000, with the biggest contribution of £400 going to the Red Cross Appeal.
