Jersey’s first Employment Law qualification launched last year under the partnership of Compass HR and Voisin law firm. The first full delegation is halfway through the qualification and a second enrolment is now open for applicants to start in September 2012.
To mark the launch of this new intake, Compass HR is offering one half-price scholarship place on this new cohort. Application forms are available to download from the Compass website (www.compassjersey.com). Tina Monro, Course Director at Compass HR said: “We are delighted to underline our commitment to improving Employment Law practice in the island by offering this opportunity to potential students”. Completed forms must be received by 18 June.
Ten local professionals enrolled on the course in 2011. In their feedback session the students heralded the qualification ‘relevant’, ‘up to date’, ‘practical’, and ‘easily applicable to real life situations’. 100% of students thought the overall learning experience met or exceeded their expectations.
Rebecca Daly, Senior Human Resources Officer, BNP Paribas said: ‘It's been refreshing to undertake a qualification that I can put into practice on a daily basis.’
Allannah Camsell, Jersey Finance Limited, said: ‘As a HR practitioner I have found the course invaluable as the knowledge, expertise and experience of the lawyers at Voisin are applied to workplace situations.’
The course comprises five modules and four exams; Jersey Employment Law in Context, Terminating the Employment Contract, Creating and Maintaining the Employment Relationship, Impending Legislation and Employment Tribunals. All subjects are essential knowledge for local business owners, HR professionals and managers who have responsibility for managing the employment relationship.
Dexter Flynn, Associate, Voisin law firm, commented:
‘I am really pleased with the first enrollment of students. The students’ comments prove the course is relevant and useful in the current business climate. Employment industry law is continuously changing making it imperative for business owners and HR managers to stay abreast of developments. I look forward to teaching the second group of students in September and working with Compass to develop employment law knowledge and expertise in Jersey.’
