Students, graduates and people looking for a change in career are invited to learn about the diverse job opportunities that the island’s finance industry can offer at the Annual Careers Fair on Thursday September 15th 2011 at the Radisson Blu Hotel on the Waterfront.
Jersey Finance will host the finance industry stand and representatives from its member firms will be on hand to offer practical advice and guidance on career options, entry level requirements and the necessary skills for those considering a career in finance. Information will also be available about the many non-financial disciplines that support the finance industry, such as human resources, IT, marketing and operations.
The careers fair, which is organised by Careers Jersey, opens at 3.00pm and draws to a close at 8pm and parents are encouraged to accompany their children to the event to understand the many opportunities that a career in the finance industry entails.
Representatives from a number of companies and professional associations will be on hand to offer advice on training, qualifications, CV writing and interview techniques. Careers Jersey has also contacted local companies and will be advertising any available positions at the event.
Visitors to the finance industry stand will be entered into a competition to win an LG Optimus ME smartphone which has been donated by Sure Mobile.
Carla Harris, Communications Manager at Jersey Finance, commented:
“The Careers Fair is an excellent opportunity to showcase the many employment options that are available within the finance industry here in Jersey. Those contemplating their career path or considering a change in vocation may be surprised to learn that the finance industry is so diverse. Across all its sectors, opportunities are available to complement candidates’ interests, ability and ambition.
“We look forward to speaking to people and helping them to consider whether a career in finance is the correct choice for them and find the area that best suits them personally.”
