JCG Foundation corporate partners Rathbones Investment Management International (RIMI) and the Jersey International Business School (JIBS) have joined forces to sponsor a very special presentation next month taking place at Jersey College for Girls on Tuesday 12th March.
The thought provoking event entitled ‘Finance…..you thought you’d heard it all’ is aimed at students from all schools in years 11, 12 and 13.
Parents, local businesses and other interested parties are also invited to attend and the organisers hope that it will change attendees perceptions of a career in finance. Keynote speaker for the event is Mr David Coombs, Head of multi-asset investments at Rathbone Unit Trust Management.
Mr Coombs is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Financial Services; he joined Rathbones in 2007 and is a member of Rathbones’ Investment Committee as well as the Strategic Asset Allocation Committee and Collectives Research Committee, which he chairs.
Mr Coombs is the lead manager for the Rathbones Multi-Asset Portfolio Funds and the offshore equivalents domiciled here in Jersey. He is also co-manager for the Rathbones Strategic Bond Fund. At the event on 12th March Mr Coombs will discuss his lengthy career in the financial services industry, explain how his training in the Channel Islands prepared him for life in the finance sector and will offer great insight into his personal David Vieira, Head of Marketing at Jersey Finance will provide a short introduction to the event which includes an overview about finance in Jersey and related careers.
David commented: “The finance industry is the biggest employment sector in Jersey and there are a variety of opportunities for school leavers and graduates to enter the industry.
Whilst the key areas are banking, funds, capital markets and private wealth, there is a depth and breadth of roles available with plenty of scope for young individuals to shape their career.”
Doors will open at 5.30pm on Tuesday 12th March and the presentation will begin at 6pm in the main hall at Jersey College for Girls.
In December last year Rathbones Investment Management International became an official Jersey College for Girls Foundation Corporate Partner supporting the JCG Foundation and education in Jersey, this event is just one of a series of activities which form an annual plan of involvement.
