Corporate, private client and fund company Hawksford has appointed a treasury manager to lead its recently launched Treasury and Investment Services team. The new division, which has been created by streamlining a number of existing asset management services, will deliver efficiencies by centralising Hawksford’s internal banking services function.

Gary Thirkettle, who joins Hawksford from RBS International, will lead the Treasury and Investment Services team. Mr Thirkettle, who has 20 years’ experience working with RBS Group in London and Jersey in various trading roles, joined Hawksford on a project basis in 2015 to identify how the company can improve its treasury service, and has now been appointed on a permanent basis.

Amongst Mr Thirkettle’s responsibilities will be the implementation of a treasury operating model and the provision of a cash management platform that will optimise clients’ investment criteria whilst reducing their risk.

Investment analyst Ryan Crawford, who has worked within Hawksford’s Middle East team for the past three years, will support Mr Thirkettle.

The treasury and investment service, which is available to all of Hawksford’s trusts clients, will significantly reduce the time the private client team spends on treasury, banking and account opening activity, creating efficiencies that will be passed directly on to clients. Clients will also benefit from very competitive rates on current and deposit accounts, as well as cheaper borrowing costs due to the identification of a preferred panel of banks and service providers.

Maxine Rawlins, chief executive officer at Hawksford, commented: ‘Gary has a wealth of treasury related experience and has made a significant contribution since joining Hawksford on a project basis. I am pleased that he has now joined the Hawksford team full time and, with support from Ryan, will manage the treasury and investment service.

‘Gary identified that by centralising our banking services internally and streamlining our alliances with investment managers, we can broker stronger and smoother relationships with our business partners and stakeholders, and provide more informed options to our clients as well as major efficiencies for our clients and in-house.’

Mr Thirkettle added, ‘Hawksford is rapidly growing and this is a perfect time to centralise the treasury and cash management functions and gain greater control of clients’ assets, investment and cash. Ryan’s investment analyst capabilities give us a great resource to review the performance of investment portfolios. The treasury and investor team will deliver genuine benefits to clients and our private client focused colleagues.’

Hawksford is an international corporate, private client and funds business offering a range of comprehensive services to trusts, companies, foundations, partnerships, family offices and investment funds.
