The youngsters from Grouville Football Club will impress their opposition this season, not only with their ball skills, but with their new kits, thanks to sponsorship from local trust company, Hawksford. The sponsorship, which will see the under 13, 15, 17 and 19 teams sport new match day kit, was initiated after a Hawksford employee asked if the company could support her team. ‘We’re proud to be sponsoring the Grouville Football Club juniors’ said Peter Murley, chief executive, Hawksford. ‘We believe in supporting the communities in which we operate and it’s great to be able to provide budding young talent with the kit they need. We wish them luck for the rest of the season!’ Grouville Football Club was formed in 1882 and initially competed in what was then called the County Parish Football Association until around 1934 when a new league was established, called the Saturday Football League. Due to the German occupation during the Second World War, league football was not played and the club ceased to function. In 1947, the club was reformed and a playing field established on Grouville Common.
