This event is aimed at onshore private client lawyers, accountants and financial advisers. The event will be led by two guest speakers from leading law firm Mourant Ozannes, Giles Corbin and Jeremy Wessels, who will be engaging us with their thinking on the following topics:
The succession and protection of assets using a foundation instead of a trust – Giles Corbin This session will explore the advantages to be gained from the fact that discretionary beneficiaries of Jersey foundations have by statute no interest in the Foundation's assets. This not only disarms the threat of future Saunders -v- Vautier style trust busting by the next generation but may also help to protect assets from 3rd party creditors.
Recent developments in the Channel Islands in relation to Protectors – Jeremy Wessels This session will explore the latest case law in the Channel Islands in relation to the removal of Protectors and consider the impact of the different statutory regimes on the use of Protectors.
