Hawksford director, Tim Cartwright, has been invited to speak at the International Malaysia Law Conference (IMLC) which takes place between 24 – 26 September 2014.
Mr Cartwright, who spearheads the development of new business and relationships in the Middle East and Asia-Pacific region for Hawksford, will be speaking on the topic of wealth protection and preservation for international families at the event, which takes place at The Royale Chulan, Kuala Lumpur.
The IMLC is the Malaysian Bar Council’s flagship event and is one of the most prestigious legal events to take place in Malaysia. The event provides an opportunity for solicitors and law firms, who wish to explore their options in the newly liberalised Malaysian legal services market, to network and gain a deeper understanding of the complex issues that arise in the region.
‘I am delighted to have been asked to speak at this event,’ said Mr Cartwright. ‘The creation of international wealth gives rise to many legal issues relating to trust, succession, matrimonial disputes, family company disputes and possible governmental intervention. As Malaysia continues to develop and generate new wealth, these challenges will grow. My presentation will address these topics and also deal with cultural, Shariah and cross-border considerations. Hawksford has extensive experience in dealing with matters of this nature and I’m looking forward to sharing my experiences with the audience.’
It is expected that around 800 delegates from around the world will attend the event. Key speakers will include The Honourable Chief Justice Geoffrey Ma, GBM, Yang Amat Mulia Tunku Zain Al-‘Abidin ibni Tuanku Muhriz, The Right Honourable Tun Arifin Zakaria and The Right Honourable Lord Walker of Gestingthrope.
Mr Cartwright has helped clients, their families and their advisers for over 30 years with the management, preservation and enhancement of their wealth. He is a member of the Hawksford Group Board.
