Hawksford International has adopted St Brelade’s Beach as part of the Marine Conservation Society’s Adopt-a-Beach campaign. Adopt-a-Beach is a coastal environmental initiative that works to encourage local individuals, groups and businesses to care for their immediate coastal environment. All staff had a chance to vote for the beach they would like to adopt and St Brelade received the most votes. To mark the official adoption of the beach, staff members and their families conducted the first of their beach cleans and surveys at St Brelade last month. Nigel Bentley, Managing Director Hawksford International said: ‘Living in Jersey we are privileged to be surrounded by beautiful beaches and most of us spend at least part of our spare time there. The sea around us supports a dazzling array of wildlife and we gain so much from it – not only delicious and nutritious food, but also a delightful environment which is the envy of many who are less fortunate than us. Yet rubbish is often dumped there, which is bad for the wildlife and gets washed up on our beaches. At Hawksford International we are keen to help the Marine Conservation Society (MCS) ensure a better future for our seas, shores and wildlife.’ -(ends)-
