HAWKSFORD was last night crowned Owner-Managed Trust Company of the Year at the prestigious Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) Awards.

The awards are an established event in the wealth calendar and one at which Hawksford has enjoyed past success. In 2010, Hawksford was bestowed the title of Independent Trust Company Team of the Year for 2010/2011.

'I am delighted that we have beaten off stiff competition in Ogier, Jersey Trust Company, Vistra and Stonehage to reclaim our 2010 title. It is testament to the hard work and continuing dedication of our team,' said Peter Murley, chief executive of Hawksford. ‘We are incredibly proud to be representing Jersey in such a positive way.’

Since its management buy-out in 2008, Hawksford has enjoyed phenomenal success. In 2011 Hawksford was recognised as Trust Company of the Year at the Citywealth Magic Circle Awards after being crowned Independent Trust Company Team of the Year 2010/2011 at the STEP Private Client Awards in 2010. In 2010 and 2011, Steve Carr, associate director at Hawksford, was recognised by Private Client Practitioner in the Top 35 Under 35 rankings and in 2012 Aine O’Reilly, manager at Hawksford, was also included on the respected list. Hawksford was also recognised in 2010 and 2011 by Private Client Practitioner, as a Top 25 Trust Company in its annual listing.

The STEP awards highlight excellence across the private wealth sector. They include categories for private client lawyers, accountants, private bankers, financial advisors and trust managers, and offer an opportunity for professionals to demonstrate excellence in their field and to their peer group.

The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) is the worldwide professional body for practitioners in the fields of trusts and estates, executorship and related issues. They aim to promote the highest professional standards through education and training, leading to widely recognised and respected professional qualifications. They also work to demonstrate the value of good stewardship and planning across future generations to governments, professionals, financial institutions and the public. STEP internationally has more than 17,000 members, with 6,000 members in the UK.

The winners were revealed at the awards ceremony which took place on 19 September at the London Hilton on Park Lane Hotel.
