Described in Legal 500 2014 as a “rising star”, Simon studied law at the University of Wales, Cardiff, before qualifying as an English solicitor in 2006. Over the next 13 years, he pursued a successful career in private practice in Jersey and the UK.

Whilst primarily a financial services lawyer, Simon has gained significant experience and depth of expertise working across a multitude of legal and commercial areas including regulation and corporate governance, banking and securitisation and asset financing, all of which make him a welcome addition to IQ-EQ’s Funds and Institutional team in Jersey. Simon is both technically strong and attuned to clients’ needs, both of which make him immensely suited to his new role with IQ-EQ.

Speaking about his appointment, Simon said:

“Throughout my career I’ve always had a genuine interest in the ‘bigger picture’; a desire to understand the unique requirements of each client’s business and an eagerness to expand my horizons – so when the opportunity to join the growing IQ-EQ team came about I knew it was the right move for me. IQ-EQ is on an extremely exciting commercial journey and I’m looking forward to playing my part in its future success.”

Malcolm Macleod, Head of Funds and Institutional in Jersey, commented:

“When we set out to recruit for this position we were singularly focused on attracting a top tier candidate who possessed not just the necessary technical skills but who also epitomised a high degree of EQ as having both is the secret to forging meaningful and lasting client relationships. I’m delighted to be welcoming someone of Simon’s calibre to the team and look forward to benefitting from the depth and breadth of his combined legal and commercial experience. Welcome to the team, Simon.”
