20 April 2012: Pupils of Janvrin School have been helping the Jersey Football Association and Muratti sponsors, Kleinwort Benson, to launch their search for mascots for the big match on 7 May at Springfield. 10 children (aged 9-11 years old) are needed to walk out with the Jersey and Guernsey teams at the Kleinwort Benson Muratti Vase Mens Final on 7 May at Springfield. The Janvrin pupils were treated to a visit by the Jersey team coach, Craig Culkin, team member Luke Watson, Chief Executive of Jersey Football Association Paul Creeden, JFA Treasurer David Brookland, who brought the coveted Muratti Vase with them, along with Sean Baudin from sponsors, Kleinwort Benson, to tell them more about the initiative. Not only will each mascot get a chance to be a part of the big day and soak up some of the atmosphere, they will also each get two tickets for seats in Springfield Stadium and a special match day t-shirt that will help to promote the Football Association’s “Respect” programme*. Jersey FA Chief Executive Paul Creeden commented: “The Muratti Vase final is a very important day for all those involved with football in Jersey as it is a celebration of Channel Island football. The ‘Respect Programme’ is now a fundamental part of football and it is great the kids here at Janvrin School will be helping us keep the programme at the forefront of our local game.” Senior Officer at Kleinwort Benson in Jersey, Sean Baudin, said: “We are proud sponsors of the Muratti and have enjoyed our association with the Channel Islands’ biggest sporting event. We understand that the Muratti is as much a community, as it is a sporting, event and, in our 50th anniversary year, we wanted to do something that would give the younger Muratti fans the chance to play a starring role at the match.” Further details of the mascot initiative, along with entry forms can be found at -www.kleinwortbenson.com/MurattiMascot-CompEntry forms can be downloaded, scanned in and emailed to email@example.com or dropped in/sent to Kleinwort Benson’s Wests Centre office marked for the attention of Rebecca Seller.
