The JCS European Business Development Road-trip launched on 3rd March is now just past the half-way mark. Conducted entirely by road, their ambitious itinerary began with a drive from St Malo to Amsterdam pushing on to Luxembourg, Frankfurt, Cologne, Dusseldorf, Hanover, Hamburg, Berlin and Poznan in Poland. The team are now in Warsaw moving on next to Prague, Bratislava, Vienna, Munich, Stuttgart and finally Paris before sailing back to Jersey in time for Easter.

The business concept behind the trip is disarmingly simple: JCS connect potential clients to suitable service providers for mutual benefit, as well as providing rigorous and independent Customer Due Diligence services to allow them to meet their CDD/KYC regulatory obligations. This lead generation service brings new business to Jersey-based financial service providers that would otherwise have lain dormant or gone elsewhere. JCS also provide a range of consultancy services from strategic change and post M&A business integration through to leadership training and management performance enhancement. All of these services complement one another and can be tailored according to need.

Their full success in bringing business to Jersey will only become fully apparent as these early new relationships are fostered and developed. Thus far, JCS have delivered interest in a small Real Estate fund, one foundation and three legal opinions from European clients. Vernon Breese, the driving force behind the trip, has already planned his next trip to Moscow in April, connecting existing JCS networks in Russian and Ukraine with new European contacts. The focus of this Road-trip has been unlocking Real Estate opportunities. There is an enormous amount of development and infrastructure work taking place, particularly in Germany and Poland. This presents real opportunities in Jersey for fund, foundation and trust providers (and law firms).

Prior to the trip JCS was privileged to be invited to join the Cleantech Jersey working group. The European tour has given JCS the chance to promote Jersey¹s commitment to renewable technologies, as well as the local expertise in supporting Cleantech investment which is to be found on the Island. JCS now plan to facilitate an ideas exchange with German Cleantech experts from several disciplines later in the year.
