Our engagement in the region began with a successful Singapore Connect Networking Reception on 23 October, led by Yiow Chong Tan, our Director – South East Asia. The event was our first networking reception in the region since the launch of our presence in South East Asia. It offered guests the opportunity to connect with new and existing contacts from Singapore’s financial services industry.

Following this, our activity continued in Kuala Lumpur with our ‘Comparison of Family Offices Across Jurisdictions’ roundtable on Monday 4 November. Led by our Director – South East Asia, Yiow Chong Tan, and Nancy Chien, Partner at Bedell Cristin, and supported by Zaid Ibrahim & Co, this exclusive event served as a platform to examine the family office landscape in Malaysia, Singapore, Labuan and Jersey. Guests gained valuable insights into topics including Malaysia’s new tax incentive schemes for family offices and effective offshore structures.

In Singapore, we proudly sponsored this year’s STEP Asia Conference, held at Marina Bay Sands from 12-13 November. This award-winning conference offered two days of expert panels, specialist sessions and networking, with a focus on resilient estate planning and evolving strategies across South East Asia, mainland China and the Middle East. We also sponsored the ‘Protector – is he a fiduciary?’ session, which delved into complex issues around fiduciary responsibilities and trustee liability. Delegates had the opportunity to meet our Global Head of Market Development, Chris Jenkins, and Director – South East Asia, Yiow Chong Tan, to learn more about Jersey’s offerings.

Our final event, ‘The Future of Family Offices Roundtable’, took place on Thursday 14 November in Singapore, which we co-hosted with Bordier & Cie (Singapore) and Michelmores London. This exclusive roundtable brought together high-net worth individuals, family office principals and advisers to discuss forward-looking topics, including the role of artificial intelligence, digital assets and the ESG considerations shaping Singapore’s investment landscape.

As South East Asia is one of our key markets, we look forward to making more connections and driving further developments there next year. If you’re interested in attending similar events in the future, please contact Yiow Chong Tan or create a web account for more information.
