On offer for colleagues were plant-based recipes, an on-site swap shop for unwanted (and wanted) items, a beach clean which unearthed a surprising amount of rubbish in a very short space of time and the Big Green Quiz.

Digital Marketing Manager Emma Laing visited the La Collette recycling and incinerator tour which was educational and inspiring with the whole team are hoping to go along on a future date.

“Visiting the recycling facility was fascinating. Touring the site, we saw how waste is received, sorted, and processed, and which materials need processing off island. The experience reshaped my perspective: waste isn’t just rubbish, it’s valuable material. It also opened my eyes to the fast fashion recycling crisis. Our passionate guide left us all motivated to cut down on consumption and take responsibility for what we discard. This should be mandatory learning for all islanders.”

In addition Sustainable Finance Lead Tom McKenna, along with his daughter Bella volunteered with Jersey Trees for Life to remove bracken from around trees in Jersey’s Mourier Valley, replacing broken shelters, prune broken branches and improving the area as much as they could.

Following the week, the team are now investigating ways in which they can incorporate more green habits into their daily routines and the Jersey Finance working environment.
