Representatives from Jersey Finance are taking part in an eight day formal visit to China and Hong Kong starting this week led by the Lord Mayor of the City of London, Alderman Michael Bear.
Jonathan White, Chairman of Jersey Finance and Zhaoan Li, Head of Greater China Business Development, Jersey Finance, are joining a host of senior London based professionals on the tour to some of the leading finance centre locations in mainland China including Shanghai, Beijing and Hangzhou.
Jonathan White commented:
‘Overseas visits by the Lord Mayor offer a unique opening for accompanying delegates to gain high level access to influential and key decision makers in government and business. The Lord Mayor is keen to position the UK as the partner of choice for Chinese companies and to assist them in becoming more global. We can use the visit to highlight Jersey’s close relationship with the City of London and alongside, promote the availability of an ever widening range of investment structures which can assist Chinese firms in their global objectives.’
Zhaoan Li added:
‘This visit will feature a series of high level meetings in each city with Government officials and regulators and the Lord Mayor and his delegation will also participate in a range of business forums and seminars organised in parallel to the visit. The various events enable us to further develop commercial relationships with leading Chinese based intermediaries directly.’
The events planned during the tour include a maritime reinsurance round table, a financial services seminar to include wealth management and a look at the development of international finance centres, as well as numerous networking receptions. Delegates include members of the China Britain Business Council, the UK Trade and Investment department and leading lawyers and finance professionals from City firms.
The tour began on April 10 and continues until April 18 when the delegation reaches Hong Kong.
