A team of volunteers from Jersey Finance rolled up their sleeves to support Acorn last week as part of a company-wide CSR initiative. Acorn was established more than 30 years ago as a trading company of the Jersey Employment Trust charity, which supports work and training opportunities for Islanders with disabilities or long-term health conditions.

The volunteers spent the day at the reuse centre in Trinity, where they helped sort and tidy donated goods, prepare items for resale and assist in the Woodshack workshop.

The day began with an introduction about the incredible work Acorn does and how it links to the wider mission of the Jersey Employment Trust. This was followed by a tour of the site, which highlighted the importance of sustainability and reuse. The team then got to work in different areas, gaining hands-on experience in the different trading areas of the charity.

Amy Bryant, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Jersey Finance said “It was fantastic to spend the day at Acorn and see first-hand the incredible work they do. The experience was rewarding and we hope to continue supporting their initiatives in the future.”

This initiative is part of Jersey Finance’s ongoing commitment to support local initiatives that provide better futures for Islanders.
