A free talk aimed at employers and educators in Jersey to discuss the trends and issues within graduate recruitment is being hosted by Jersey Finance with the help of the Association of Graduate Recruiters (AGR) and event sponsors Aztec Group.

The talk entitled ‘What’s happening to the Graduate Talent Pool?’ is set to take place on Friday (17th May) at the Pomme D’Or hotel starting at 12.00.

The talk is organised by Jersey Finance and will feature Carl Gilleard, Chief Executive of the AGR. He will be highlighting some of the more significant developments in graduate recruitment such as differences between generations, how school leavers are impacting the graduate market and how social media can be utilised by employers.

Carla Harris, Communications Manager at Jersey Finance, commented:

“The graduate recruitment market is constantly changing but the pace and scale of change that we are experiencing now is considerable. ‘What’s happening to the Graduate Talent Pool’ is a great chance for employers to discuss the issues which are currently affecting this area and suggest ways in which they can respond, as well as turning challenges into opportunities.”

Carl Gilleard, Chief Executive of the AGR, said:

“The AGR is the biggest network of its kind which is dedicated to graduate recruitment. Established in 1968 we have a long history in this field and we hope to pass some of our expertise onto employers in Jersey. We are seeing new challenges such as how to manage three, if not four, generations in the workplace, during the talk we will discuss how to respond to these situations.”

Edward Moore, CEO, Aztec Group commented:

“We are delighted to be supporting this unique event which brings together people from Education, Sport and Culture and the Finance industry to debate current themes and future emerging issues about our future workforce.  We are always keen to recruit bright individuals and exceptional students and graduates and therefore it is vital to engage with them.  As always, we are proud to support Jersey Finance and their initiatives to attract graduates back to Jersey.”

The talk this Friday will take place in the Golden Apple Suite of the Pomme D’Or from 12-2pm, and will enable those who attend to find out more about issues within graduate recruitment, as well as a networking opportunity.
