Lee Ingram of Voisin law firm will present at the Jersey Insurance Institute Seminar to address the topic of claiming for damages from insurers who unnecessarily delay the payment of claims.
The talk, which will take place at The Victoria Club on Wednesday 2 February, will be entitled "Unfair treatment or a world gone mad?"
Mr Ingram will discuss the recent law commission report on late payments made by insurers, the proposed legal reforms and whether the possibility of a claim for damages arises as a consequence of the distress the late payment has caused a policyholder.
Lee Ingram, Solicitor, Voisin, says:
‘With relation to recent travel chaos in particular this is a very topical issue for both the industry and the general public. The latest law commission report has made quite an impact and I will be discussing its implications. I will be analysing whether such claims may be permitted in law and if so, what impact an appropriate award of damages might have on the claims departments in insurance companies. We expect the seminar to be well attended and also generate some lively debate.’
