Clients of Carey Olsen in Jersey had the chance to view the island’s first hand-made diamond bauble at the company’s Christmas drinks party yesterday. The diamond bauble named ‘La Sfera’, which is Italian for ‘the sphere’, has been valued at over £15,000 and was created by Juan Perdomo, master craftsman at local jewellers ‘The Bench’ for Jersey Goldsmiths.
The white gold Christmas tree decoration, which used 2.1metres of white gold tube set with 68 yellow and white cut diamonds totalling 3.5 carats, was showcased to nearly 300 guests that attended the event which took place at 47 Esplanade, St Helier. £253 was raised for Jersey Hospice Care during the event as guests gave donations to view the diamond bauble.
Steven Hunt from Carey Olsen was very impressed with ‘La Sfera’. “Carey Olsen was very pleased to be able to showcase such a beautiful piece of local art to our clients and staff to raise money for Jersey Hospice Care. Everyone was keen to take a closer look at the bauble which added to the festive theme of the event. “The bauble is absolutely stunning and it will make a fabulous addition to someone’s Christmas tree.”
Julia Williams, Manager of Jersey Goldsmiths who brought the bauble along added: “La Sfera has been hand made in Jersey from start to finish and is a fine example of the craftsmanship in Jersey. We are delighted to be able to show her to so many people and contribute to the festive spirit”.
