Following the recent launch of this new full degree programme from the Jersey International Business School and The University of Buckingham, the Jersey Financial Services Commission has recognised it as a top-ranking industry qualification by allocating it to Table 4.

Stephen Platt, Principal of the Jersey International Business School, comments,
“This acknowledgement is an excellent endorsement of the standard of content and teaching faculty we can offer students. In addition to this, the potential of graduate employment within international finance can’t be underestimated as the JFSC recognise the qualification at their highest level on Table 4.”

The degree is designed for high achieving students who want to study on Island and accelerate their employability by graduating in 2 years. Starting in October 2012, the new degree does offer considerable savings of up to £60,000 compared to studying off Island at a UK university – a major contributing factor being that a full honours degree can be achieved within 2 years of full time study, as opposed to 3 years.

Whether you are considering doing a first degree or thinking about a career change, the new degree has been designed to provide students with a broad and comprehensive understanding of international financial services, laying the groundwork for a successful career in this area or a related discipline such as law, accounting, compliance or economics. Every student will be provided with an industry mentor and will be given support in securing internships both locally and internationally.

The Business School will be holding an Open Day on Saturday 28 April from 11am-4pm where potential students can find out more detail and have their questions answered by speaking with the faculty and staff along with a representative from The University of Buckingham – Frances Robinson, Director of Collaborations. There will be a series of mini lectures to choose from, which run from 11.30 until 16.00, along with a number of display stands manned throughout the day offering information on content, structure, benefits and the application process.

Chris Elliott, Director of Operations comments:
“The collaboration with The University of Buckingham has been exactly the right development for the Business School which already has a number of long-term relationships with accrediting bodies such as the International Compliance Association (ICA) and The University of Manchester Business School.
With a proven track record in helping local students to excel in their studies, we are now delighted to be able to offer such a high quality opportunity for undergraduates”
